OVERVIEW...
Alafia & D.R.U.M.: "Best World Music" Winners

AlmedaPowerFest is a free public event to occur in Peggy Park, on Almeda at Wheeler. The program will feature local bands, a Teen Talent Competition and presentations by representatives of the Greater Southeast Management District, SHAPE Community Center, OST/Almeda Authority, and other entrepreneurial, municipal and political leaders.

Speakers will share information on upcoming and ongoing projects targeted for this inner-city neighborhood (METRO Rail, Home Ownership grants, etc), plus how to get involved in the economic opportunities that abound. There will be information distribution booths of non-profit social and community service-oriented organizations.

A platform will be also be provided for constituent education... allowing an opportunity for mid-term election winners to say "Thank You" and share their plans for the future.

Get a Headstart on the Holiday Season!...Restaurant and retail vendor booths will be complimented by AlmedaPowerFest Coupons for holiday shopping specials at participating neighborhood businesses.

Residents who attend this family-oriented event will leave with a greater knowledge of, and sense of inclusion in, the many changes occurring around them as Houston's inner-city neighborhoods are redeveloped and revitalized.

The Wiseman Company is a 27 year old advertising, marketing and creative production firm. That handles all aspects of event coordinating and planning. FOOD VENDORS...

Click here for the City of Houston Department' of Health and Human Services' web page with forms and requirements for food vending permits. Temporary permits cost $60/day and must be PAID FOR 1 WEEK IN ADVANCE (by 4pm, October 22nd).

Food vendors will be charged a minimum $200 since they must be in a covered space with a cleanable floor. You may provide your own tent or trailor, but we cannot assign a booth or trailer space to a food vendor without a copy of a current food permit. Click here for answers to frequently asked questions.
